Policy:

Claim the unclaimed financial assets, mainly Pension pots, in dormant accounts where the owners are unknown or cannot be traced.

The UK holds a substantial amount of unclaimed financial assets in dormant accounts where the owners are unknown or cannot be traced.

As of 2025, it's estimated that £78 Billion is sitting in lost or dormant accounts across the UK:

  • £40 Billion in forgotten pension pots
  • £4.5 Billion in dormant bank and building society accounts
  • £2.2 Billion in unclaimed Child Trust Funds
  • £1.25 Billion in unclaimed shares
  • £800 million in unclaimed life insurance policies
  • £60 million in NS&I savings

With change in laws, the Government maybe able to claim £50 Billion where they are old and unclaimed, whilst providing indemnity, if owner materialises later. There is already a scheme that exists that can be modified to accelerate the collection of these funds.
